Will brings diverse experience spanning heavy industry, underground coal mining, environmental regulation, geospatial systems and digital product development.
He has played a key role in developing IEMA’s Integrated Mining, Environmental, Rehabilitation and Closure Solution (IMERCS), a cloud-based intelligence platform that helps mining operations manage environmental compliance, rehabilitation and closure obligations, spatial records, field workflows and audit readiness. His work combines spatial intelligence, workflow automation, cloud-based data management and AI-assisted tools to improve regulatory compliance, operational transparency and knowledge retention across the life of a mine.
Will has helped design and implement IMERCS modules for permit-to-work processes, drill-hole rehabilitation, rehabilitation planning and reporting, dam inspections, subsidence management, Aboriginal cultural heritage inspections, weed management, rehabilitation cost estimation and AI-assisted reporting. These solutions integrate management plan obligations, field records, spatial data, dashboards, quality assurance processes and regulatory reporting within a single source of truth. IMERCS is supported by technologies including Esri Web GIS and Field Maps, AWS cloud infrastructure, FME automation and OpenAI-enabled tools.
Outside work, Will enjoys woodcarving, surfing and contributing to his community through breathwork classes and the development of local skateparks.
