IEMA has provided ongoing spatial data management and regulatory reporting support for Ulan Coal Mine, ensuring compliance with NSW Resources Regulator requirements. The project involved consolidating and updating historical spatial datasets and developing spatial outputs to support rehabilitation reporting and rehabilitation cost estimation.

In collaboration with Whitehaven Coal’s Narrabri Coal Operations (NCO), located near Gunnedah, NSW, IEMA has developed thirteen specialised modules built in the IMERCS intelligence framework to streamline data management and operational workflows. Centralised Cloud Data Stores provide organisation-wide access to structured and secure data, supporting seamless collaboration across the organisation.

Bathurst Resources Limited engaged IEMA to undertake an AI Readiness Assessment for the Buller Plateaux Continuation Project (BPCP), a complex Fast Track Approval Act (FTAA) application involving extensive environmental, cultural, social, economic and technical documentation with significant stakeholder interest.

Redisand is required to prepare Annual Reviews to meet ongoing regulatory and approval requirements. These reviews bring together monitoring results, compliance outcomes, and environmental performance across the site. IEMA has supported Redisand for more than 10 years, preparing clear and practical Annual Reviews and providing ongoing environmental compliance, reporting, and advisory support.

IEMA partnered with Muswellbrook Coal Company Limited and Idemitsu Australia to deliver an integrated mine closure planning program for the Muswellbrook Coal Mine following the cessation of mining in 2022. The multi-year program addressed the complexities of closing a legacy mining operation with more than a century of mining history, integrating technical investigations, rehabilitation planning, risk management, regulatory requirements, and stakeholder considerations into a coordination closure strategy.

IEMA provided embedded closure specialists within Bathurst Resources to support whole-of-site closure planning across multiple New Zealand coal operations. By applying international best practice and practical operational mining experience, IEMA helped establish consistent, risk-based frameworks, improve coordination across sites, and build internal capability to manage closure as a core business function.
