Carbon Accounting Support for PanAust (FY25)

  • Client: PanAust

Summary

IEMA supported PanAust Limited to strengthen its carbon accounting processes across multiple international operations using the Sumday platform. The project focused on improving data accuracy, consistency and audit readiness for FY25 greenhouse gas (GHG) reporting.

The Objective

Following the successful implementation of the Sumday carbon accounting platform in FY24, PanAust engaged IEMA to provide ongoing support for FY25 emissions reporting. The organisation required assistance to ensure accurate, consistent and auditable GHG data across its global operations, including assets in Australia, Laos, Chile, Papua New Guinea and Thailand.

The objective was to strengthen internal capability, improve data quality, and ensure alignment with the GHG Protocol while supporting efficient and reliable annual reporting.

Our Response

Our Response

IEMA delivered a comprehensive carbon accounting support program, combining technical expertise with hands-on data management. This included:

  • Facilitating a project inception process to confirm scope, roles and communication pathways
  • Developing and issuing a detailed Request for Information (RFI) to capture all required emissions data inputs
  • Supporting the collection, categorisation and upload of Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 emissions data into the Sumday platform
  • Applying robust quality assurance and quality control processes to ensure accuracy and consistency across six entities
  • Providing ongoing advisory support to PanAust teams across multiple jurisdictions
  • Supporting responses to auditor RFIs, including validation of assumptions and preparation of audit-ready documentation
The Impact

The Impact

The project enabled PanAust to deliver a high-quality, audit-ready carbon inventory for FY25, supported by consistent data and robust methodologies.

Key outcomes included:

  • Improved accuracy and consistency of GHG emissions data across all entities
  • Enhanced internal capability and confidence in carbon accounting processes
  • Streamlined reporting through effective use of the Sumday platform
  • Strengthened audit readiness and reduced risk of rework during assurance processes

This work supports PanAust in maintaining credible, transparent emissions reporting and advancing its broader sustainability and decarbonisation objectives.
