Summary
Newcastle Sand operates a recently opened 3.25 million tonne sand quarry in Williamtown, NSW. The site produces three key products – white/industrial sand, concrete/asphalt sand, and landscaping sand – supplying the Hunter and Sydney regions.
The Objective
Newcastle Sand partnered with IEMA to enhance its environmental compliance and reporting processes as the operation continues to grow and evolve using CSVUE. With increasing regulatory requirements and expanding activities, there was an opportunity to introduce a more structured and consistent approach to managing compliance obligations.
The primary goal was to implement a streamlined, practical, system that improves visibility, accountability, and efficiency without adding administrative burden. As a growing operation with a small team, managing compliance obligations, reporting, and tracking posed challenges. The solution needed to integrate seamlessly into daily operations, clearly define responsibilities, and remain scalable as the business evolves.
Our Response
IEMA worked collaboratively with Newcastle Sand to implement a structured compliance framework, supported by the CSVue platform. The system was configured to capture relevant, site-specific data, centralise compliance obligations, and align with existing workflows ensuring a practical, fit-for-purpose solution that enhances visibility across stakeholders.
The Impact
The project delivered a more efficient, transparent, and scalable approach to compliance management for the site. By combining IEMA’s environmental expertise with CSVUE’s digital capability, Newcastle Sand now has a robust framework that supports ongoing compliance and operational efficiency.
